The Outreach & Social Ministry Team provides opportunities for members to respond to God’s call to social ministry and justice. As we serve others, we experience more fully the creative, transforming power of Christ and God’s loving presence. By expressing and experiencing the abundant life as revealed in the scriptures, this ministry team identifies and connects members to opportunities to care for and learn about our neighbors in our community and around the world.

Items that may require council action: Potential move to adjacent location for ECHOES. We reviewed the current situation at ECHOES. Rent has been increased (Laura Henderson and Jeff Bemis will check if that was done legally) and a visit to the landlords was made this past month. The landlord would like to have the space we are in (currently paying $5/sq. ft.) and wants a 3- to 5-year lease arrangement. An offer was made to move one building west (at a cost of $3.50/ per sq. ft.) They would like a verbal commitment in 6 weeks or less.
We recommend a move to the new building. What actions would be expected of our ECHOES board? Is a new Pro Forma required? We would like to make a decision by the end of the April. Please make sure this on the agenda.
Items that may require budget/finance coordination: Increased rent (at existing location) vs. move to new location to increase space/revenue at ECHOES.
Would like to make the move if we can handle the increase maintenance charge.
Revenue for the 1st quarter is about $1,000 ahead of last year. Sue Swanson has mailed out flyers to all local churches asking for donations. Would like to remove expenses to yellow pages.com and modify our Yellow Pages ad to a single line which should bring about an annual savings of approximately $900-$1,000 per year. This was decided because the market we appeal to may not have access to computers and most of our advertising may be handled in a different fashion.
Finance/budget review: Currently under budget for first quarter.
Temple Talks: about ECHOES generated questions (primarily North Site) about where ECHOES is and what its future needs are.
