Important items of information:
- Habitat
for Humanity
- 2X4 sale has been coordinated by Jeff Picken and
friends. It will take place May 17.
- Work days. At the 2X4 sale, work possibilities
will be available in the form of a sign-up sheet with specific days
called for. Various days (July 14 & 16) have already been filled.
- Rental
of parsonage: We now have the
protocol in place that will allow a potential renter to go through
application, credit check, and contacting references before the acceptance
interview is scheduled. Thanks to Judy Snavely and Mike Lokensgard for
their work with Brenda Smongeski in figuring out how to proceed.
- Rebuilding
Together: We had six
participants helping all day repainting a house (inside & out) and doing
other work. We were also well fed. This was a very well organized and easy
volunteer opportunity. We will do it again next year.
- Sole
Burner: There were more than 60
participants. The amount of money raised will be forthcoming. Thanks to
Robin Ermer and Rich Erickson for organizing this event.
- Relay
for Life: We are putting this
event on hold unless more interest is forthcoming.
- Chelsy
Luck mission trip: This request
will be filled through the FELC mission fund. Through sponsors, Chelsy has
raised funds that will go toward this mission fund. Joanne Moard has
agreed to be Chelsy’s contact person in the congregation, and to help keep
us informed about her trip. She also will help Chelsy know how much we as
a congregation appreciate all she is doing in Costa Rica. There will be a
sending service on May 27 at the Wednesday night campfire service.
- Bethlehem
Crafts: Julie has not been able
to get in touch with Amir Michael
Saed.
- Trip to Bethel Church: The trip is planned
for June 14. We will plan on asking at least $10 per person for the bus
trip. Julie Doerfler and Chuck
Barnum will be taking care of the details.
- Echoes, “Fill the Trailer” event: Dana Olson and Jim Moard agreed to work with
Kathy Hoffman to make sure there is a truck with a hitch available and
that someone is helping to fill it well
New business
- Lutheran
Partners in Global ministry.
- Through the newsletter and brochures, we will
promote the Global Village Camp at Pine Lake on July 8-11.
- Tour de Revs. On Wednesday, Aug. 12, we will be
hosting a synodwide event with the Tour de Revs (www.tourderevs.org). Three ELCA
pastors are riding a bamboo bicycle built for three to every synod in the
United States in order to raise $5 million for world hunger. They will be
at the East Central Synod of Wisconsin on Aug. 12 and we will be hosting
them at the North Site. We discussed various possibilities for the event
and will be working with the interns to make this a synodwide event.
