Attendees:

Ellen Evensen

Elizabeth Hensel

June Hoeger

Emilie Larson

Staff: Jean Monson

Important items of information:

Breaking Bread with the Risen Christ potluck dinner/discussion is planned for 6-8 host families (we hope, given host availability and interest), for April 15th-May 20th or so. Pastor Dave will design a discussion format for the study (host will not facilitate discussion), based on Jesus’ trip to Emmaus with two disciples. There will be a sign-up at church for different host families, times/dates, etc. Jean will talk to Kathy Rich about getting hosts involved/interested.

May 20th is the tentative date for the installation of Pastor Mike Dismer, pending information from the Bishop.

Long-term: We need to get a group in place (task force?) to organize the meals for the on-going Wednesday evening downtown service/meal/education planned for fall, following the Wednesday night summer program.

Regarding the Prayer Shawl ministry, Amy Truby keeps records of the shawl details/lists of who receives them and facilitates the delivery. FAQ will be added to next newsletter with info about how shawls are distributed. A blessing of shawls made to be given out will occur every month to make this ministry more visible to the congregation.

Long-term: September 16th is the Volunteer Fair and we need to “man” the booths at North Site and Downtown from 8:30 to 11:45 AM or so.

Upcoming fellowship events: Lenten meals are over (by the time this gets posted — last on 3/14/07), Maundy Thursday service/brunch for Golden Sages, Vigil planned for Easter Saturday evening with fellowship (and goodies) to follow and two baptisms planned for that day, Jean gathering hosts/planners for Timber Rattlers’ game and annual picnic events to get the planning started.

Review 2007 Planning: continuing responsibilities for (and new goals for) support groups, prayer ministry, senior ministry, fellowship activities/supplies, health ministry, wedding program, and small groups.

Prayer Ministry: plans to start prayer group to pray for needs of our church, Prayer 101 and 201 courses will be offered later this year due to low-turnout (date/time conflicts for congregation?).

Health Ministry: the health ministry group will be focused on congregational care, with no hands on involvement, settling on needs of congregation for parish nurse position (using 50+ Inventory results), this group will do first round of interviews for nurse position, staff will interview last few, nurse will use upstairs converted classroom (115) for his/her office. This group will meet next at 6:30AM on the 23rd. Jean is updating a PowerPoint from Affinity to show the council about the parish nurse position. The first job responsibilities of the parish nurse will be helping expectant parents and shut-ins. We plan to have Diane Luxhoj review key pieces of the 50+ Inventory with Cong. Life at next meeting (4/10/07).

Time and Talent form/booklet updates will be discussed at next month’s meeting if Diane is not available to review the Inventory.
