Items that may

Items that may
require budget/finance coordination: None
Important
items of information:
Reviewed 2009 goals:
- We discussed specifics for needed funeral
coordinators for 2009. These individuals would coordinate/recruit
volunteers to manage the meal and sound system – this would involve work
during the day, so this group will be in addition to the wedding
coordinators. We will need to recruit baptism and funeral coordinators for
2009.
- Prayer workshop in Lent with DVD of Valparaiso
professor, Walt Wangerin, to be put together in conjunction with Learning
Ministry Team.
- Newlywed follow-up activity – staff needs to
determine the staff person to be involved with weddings and future events
for newlyweds.
- Expectant parent ministry already has 17 people
signed up to help with meals; 8-10 have agreed to be prayer partners, 10+
have agreed to be on prayer chain.
Word of mouth is the way we find out who is pregnant or adopting to
get them involved with this ministry.
- Depression Support Group up and running (small
group at first meeting), also word of mouth recruiting. Karen has plan to
put info in newsletter and bulletin about this group to get more members.
Currently, Deb Blank and Karen are the supporting leaders for this group.
- Health Ministry Team will now start meeting
Thursday evenings in hopes to get better attendance. Possibly looking to
add members to this sub-group.
50+ ministry update:
- Dec 17 Advent worship and lunch being assisted
by Melissa Moll (music and carols). Also will include surveys to get more
info for planning future events.
- January Senior Ecumenical Potluck is being
hosted at FELC this year (3rd Thursday in January), and Girl Scouts are
putting together the door prizes for this event.
New ideas for 2009
discussed:
- 2009 Wellness Project – “Clock your walk.” Have
program start in April and end with Sole Burner event, with possible
kick-off at 5th-Sunday-Potluck event (see below). Idea is to have people
measure minutes, number of blocks, or miles walked to reach an FELC group
goal (with prize drawing and celebration at end if goal is reached).
Discussed possible free pedometers to be given out to each person wanting
to partake in event (with conversion times/amounts for other physical
activity). Project to involve all ages.
- Potluck events, possibly 5th Sunday Potlucks
(March, May and August 2009).
Discussed potential ethnic dinners, variations on Tables of Eight
and progressive dinner ideas. Ellen will work on this with Sarah Miles to
put together a potluck program for 2009.
