Congregational Life Ministry Team minutes

Important items of information:

• Yvette will no longer be able to be a part of this ministry team due to other volunteer needs. Margaret and Ellen’s 3-year commitment to this team ends in March 2008. The December meeting will include a brainstorming session to generate a list of possible new members and suggestions for a prayer coordinator.

• The caterer fell through for the Nov. 14 Wednesday LIFT meal, so Margaret will be cooking dinner (with Jean Monson’s help).

• Changes are needed for the layout of the nurse’s office: removing the accordion wall and putting in a solid wall for confidentiality of conversations held in Karen’s office. Karen (with health ministry team), will decide priorities for what needs changing the most, and submit for approval to the facilities oversight group, via John Zweig. Discussion regarding possible expansion of Karen’s office to use entire room, negating the need for solid wall to be put in (estimated $10,000 cost). However, due to desperate need for Sunday school and Wednesday LIFT classrooms, this may not be practical since Karen’s office would need to be kept locked. The health ministry subgroup (Karen, specifically) will discuss with facilities oversight to determine the best course of action for future needs.

• Next year, possibly health ministry will purchase brochures for the library so all information does not need to be kept in Karen’s office. Since the brochure holders are a building supply, who would pay for these? Health ministry? Property Oversight? The library?

• Discussion over difficulties in budgeting, given that ministry teams are not given a list of expenses and dollars raised through fundraising events, ticket sales, wedding fees, etc. to determine correct budget for next year. Ellen will address the Support Ministry Team to see what can be done to get information needed in order to properly take responsibility for expenses and budgets for our team.

• Stephen Ministry “interest” workshop to be held next fall (Saturday morning), possibly also have guest preacher the month prior, to speak about this ministry, aligning with the lessons for that Sunday.

• Discussed possible changes to the FELC program guidebook information regarding Congregational Life. Emilie to submit changes to Jan Sommerfeld in the church office.
